Bumps and lumps on your eyelid can be painful, unsightly and downright annoying. A common bump may be a chalazion. These are a cyst like a nodule inside the upper or lower eyelid. They are typically caused by a blocked oil gland and can include pus or blocked fatty secretions that help lubricate the eye but don't drain out.
Most of the time these chalazia drain on their own and be home treated by using warm compresses or massaging the eyelid.
If you continue to see persistent chalazia and it interferes with your eyesight, becomes unsightly and painful, you may require treatment by your eye care professional.
